Sick!

The last week has been horrible!!  It started last Sunday, May 2!  We were at my brother and sister in laws house for a BBQ and all of the sudden, the right side of my throat started to hurt!  Monday I woke up with a nasty sore throat and coughing...typical cold, right?  Wrong!  Each day I seemed worse!  Tuesday my temp started slowly going up...only to 99, so I wasn't too worried.  Just felt tired and sick!  Wednesday same thing, only now my stomach was acting up...everything I ate, went right through me!  Yuck!  I will pause the sick story for just a moment and direct your attention to the photo at Left!  Sorry it is sideways, but here is my weight as of this morning.  178.2!!!  Down over 11 lbs!  But....6 of those came from being sick...and again, everything going right through me!!  But I'll take it!!  :)  8 more lbs and I will be where i was after having my twins 19 months ago...and hopefully the size 10 jeans will go along with that as well!!  *crossing my fingers*


Now, back to the story...Thursday afternoon the fever really hit me!!  102.3 was the highest that day!  I took a 3+ hour nap, and was grateful to have my girls here to entertain the twins after their nap until hubby got home because I could not get out of bed.  It was a little scary!  I managed to get up once to go to the bathroom, and felt like I was about to pass out on the floor!  Hubby came home with Pizza, I ate a little slice and put myself to bed at 9.  Super early for me!


Friday my mommy came down to take care of me!  I hadn't seen her in over a month because of her recent travels to see my brothers family in Hawaii!  I felt a lot better by the afternoon...well enough to go to my daughters spanish class "la fiesta" end of year performance!  But I tell ya, the second I got home the fever returned with a vengeance!  I was shaking like crazy, freezing, burning up...you name it!  I took some advil and went to bed.  I spent ALL DAY Saturday in bed, burning up!  I was between 101-102 all weekend long!  It made for some miserable nights!  Sunday afternoon the fever was finally gone...just hovering around 99 at that point!  Started feeling a little better!  And today...after spending most of the morning in the bathroom, that problem seems to be getting better as well!!  Thank goodness!!  


Only think I am left with is I think I have a lovely sinus infection now!  Go figure!  Whatever flu, or virus, or bug I had...it was horrible...I think it is going around here a lot...I've heard a lot of similar symptoms from several people!!  Such is life!!  I am getting better, thankful for that!!  


Now not that ANY of this had anything to do with dieting or exercising, but it had everything to do with me hitting the 10 lb mark!  Here's to 2 more weeks...hopefully in the next day or 2 I will be well enough to pull the shred back out!  I have missed it!  Time to tone up the flab!  :)  xoxo

Loser!

I am the biggest loser.  And not the awesome kind I should be right now?  lol  I guess the point of this blog is to keep you all updated with my progress thus far.  Well..the first 2 weeks, I did awesome!  Worked out every day...counted ever calorie...and then my birthday...my stupid stupid birthday!  I totally fell off the wagon, hard!  So I gave myself a week off...and then that turned into 2...grrrr!  So, here I am confessing that I have been horrible!  I have not been exercising..I have been kinda watching what I eat...before I scarf it down!  So there you have it...big fat loser!

But there is 1 upside I suppose...I haven't gained anything back...in fact I have lost a little more!  6 lbs down!  So that makes me more pumped to get back on the wagon and work my butt off!  Literally!

28!

I really wish that 28 was how much weight I have lost, but no, it's my age.  Not that's it's bad.  I'm feeling a little old..I mean come on, I would say I am slowly approaching 30, but I know there is nothing slow about it, I'm sure the next 2 years are going to FLY by!  So whatever! Anyays, this has nothing to do with anything, so...moving on!

I have been doing really really crappy lately!  This week has kinda gone down the drain, because of my stinkin' birthday!

I weighed in early this week and was happy to be down another lb or so, I wasn't very excited about it so I don't remember the exact total!  I was however, thrilled to have lost 1 whole inch off of my hips!!  Totally made my day!

So I have decided that Birthdays are horrible for someone who is dieting, and here is why!  I feel like all I have done this week is eat out!  So I decided I would just kinda do the best I can, and then start fresh on Monday and give it 110%!  On my actual birthday I went to lunch at Noodles and Co with my awesome friend Tamara!  I felt like I did well...I ate their Bangkok Curry with Shrimp...total of 525 calories for the big dish!!  But that night I got to go on a date with my hubby!  First off, can I just tell you all how much fun it was to have some alone time with the man!?  Seriously!  He has been working 12+ hour days for the last 2 weeks he has been there 7 days a week!  So I am so grateful to my mother in law for watching our kids so we could have a night out!

We went to dinner at Tucanos.  It's a Brazilian steakhouse.  Pretty much a big fat all you can eat!  Delicious!  I only took 1 trip the to salad bar and didn't even finish everything on that 1 plate.  I also had a little plate stacked with delicious meats that would cut right onto my plate!  Mmmmm!  But, I got full, fast...I ate until I was seriously stuffed and wanted to puke...but when I looked down, I was surprised at how much food I had NOT eaten!  Then we went and Saw Date night!!  It was a great night!

Unfortunately for me, the eating didn't end then!  On Friday my awesome friend Aimee took me to Cheesecake Factory for lunch!  I had never been there!  I had looked up the calories before hand to get an idea of what they are there...but I didn't factor that in to any of the food I ordered.  Here's a run down...it was HORRIBLE!!  Horribly DELICIOUS...but killer (seriously) on the calories!!  Ok, here's what I had:
Avocado Eggrolls 958 Calories  (but since I only ate half of them...I only had 479...only...lol)
Chicken Marsala w/ Mushrooms 1480 Calories
Chocolate Raspberry Truffle 1079 Calories...are you KIDDING me?

for a grand total of 3038 Calories...for ONE MEAL!  Ok, but lucky for me...I had enough leftovers to eat for dinner as well...but still...those 3 items more than DOUBLED my caloric intake for the day.

So, tomorrow...I am starting fresh, I'm not going to let a week of pigging out get me down and quit!  I'm in this!  Not too excited to see what the scale says, but it was my own fault...time to make it right!  :)

Week 1 - Results

First of all...I hope you all had an awesome weekend!  It was a busy one for us, but lots of fun!  Between Easter activities and listening to General Conference, it kept us nice and busy!  On Saturday afternoon we went to hubby's grandparents house for a BBQ and an Easter egg hunt!

I did very well!!  The only thing I ate was some taco salad!  I avoided all the chips, breads, meats, etc.  Not because I couldn't have them...but because I didn't want them!  It's so easy to lose track while munching on chips, especially!  So I felt pretty good, and the only "treat" I allowed myself was a small rice crispy treat!  The kids had a lot of fun finding eggs, this was the first year my boys got to participate.  This picture isn't the greatest, but it's the only one I have of the 4 of them together!

Sunday was my free day!  I didn't pig out, but I wasn't so careful about what I ate.  We went to my parents for dinner.  I did well, I didn't gorge myself until I felt sick.  I stopped while I was comfortable.  I was even a little hungry still, but decided to stop!  I did however, indulge in a few too many of my sister in laws chocolate covered strawberries.  Come one...strawberries are good...the chocolate however, not so good!  Oh well!  It was my treat for the week of hard work!  :)

Now, time for my weigh in...dun dun dun...the problem I have is with my scale...it doesn't seem to be very accurate.  I stepped on this morning and it was 186...then 185..then 187.6....what the heck...what # am I supposed to go by?  Then I decided I would take a picture of my weight and go by whatever it gave me...
but I encountered the same problem! I decided to weigh twice...each with a different number.  So which one do I use as my official weight for the week??  Of course I am drawn to the smaller number, but worry that if I use that one then the next week won't be as much of a difference.  So maybe I will go with 186....but change it to 186.6...so then I am down an even 3 lbs, and I can use that extra lb to my advantage next week....hmmm...sounds good to me!  So there we have it...186.6.  down a whopping 3 lbs from when I weighed in last monday!  I also measured myself again, so I will be adding current measurements to my side bar, so be sure to check it out!  I am most excited about the 1.5inches I lost off my waist!  I lost everywhere except for my hips!  I am sooo excited to see what doing a full week of Jillians 30 day shred will bring, because I only did that 3 days last week with great results already!  Level 1 is still hard, but it has gotten quite a bit easier for me, so maybe next week I will move up to level 2...we'll see!

Day 5!

Hmmm...don't really know what to blog about today!  I'm surviving and doing pretty well!!  I have been naughty and weighed myself every day!  :)  I will just say that so far I am down 2-3 lbs...but that can all change from day to day, so I won't count anything officially until I "weigh in" next week!  Soooo...

Today I completed day 3 of the Shred!  I love it and I hate it!  Mostly love!  It leaves me feeling exhausted and well worked out, like I have accomplished something!  Now I need to decide if I will do it on the weekends.  I usually only work out M-F, but I may throw Saturday in there as well...we'll see how I feel in the morning!

I am starting to feel some differences in my body already, so I whipped out the measuring tape just for fun to see that I have lose an inch from my waist (woot) along with a difference in the thighs, chest, and arms...nothing from the hips yet, but it's still early in the game!!  :)

Diet has been going great, too!!  That's what I love about counting calories...I love the freedom to choose what I want to eat!  And it's kind of a game seeing what you can eat and what it's gonna cost ya!  :)  Anyways, I am off to enjoy a movie with my girls!  xoxo

DAY 3 - three trois tres drie tre

Ok, first of all...BOOOOO!  This snow is so not cool!  Maybe cold...but NOT cool!  How am I supposed to get some fresh air and exercise outside when it's like this?  Today and tomorrow are supposed to be like this and then the rest of the week is supposed to warm up a bit. I'm just ready for it to be spring...

So since I was a slacker yesterday and didn't exercise, I decided I really needed to kick it into gear today!  I do, however, have plenty of good excuses as to why I didn't exercise...although I think pushing a monster cart all over costco for an hour counts for something, doesn't it?


While at costco I picked up my new trainer...Jillian..for a whopping $7.99!  We are going to be best friends.  Oh wait, no we aren't...after this morning I hate her.  My whole body hates her!  Ok, I don't hate her, it was an awesome work out...maybe I'll just a wuss, but it was HARD!  I really like the layout of it all!
3 minutes Strength, 2 minutes Cadio, 1 minute Abs...in 3 different circuits!  You start out with a warm up...and let me tell you, I was tired by the end of that!  That just tells you all how out of shape I am!  I did the first 1 1/2 minutes of the first strength circuit...and then when I found out I had to get back on the floor and do MORE pushups I about died.  I made it through the whole first circuit, totally died on the second, and then really tried to push  myself on the third because I knew I was almost done!  I made it though...completely exhausted...but feeling good, like I had really accomplished something!  I'd really like to give it the full 30 days...on top of any running or walks that I do also!  I think that will be a good amount of exercise a day!  I also really liked that the whole workout start to finish was only 25 minutes...it is good for a busy mom like Me!  Ü
And lastly...for now anyway...My first green smoothie!  I got a late start this morning and didn't feel like cooking eggs again, although they did sound delicious!  Instead I made this green creation!  And how appropriate that I enjoyed it out of my shrek cup!  Mmmm!  It was tasty!  Since this was my first and completely an experiment I am looking for more ideas and recipes.  I used a small can of pineapple juice and blended it with as much spinach as I could shove into my bullet.  Blended that until it was smooth, and then added a banana, 2 strawberries, and some ice.  I also at 1/2 of one of my bagel thins topped with a wedge of laughing cow swiss.  Yumm!

Yum - Lunch

220 Calories! Wow!

So I went to costco today and stocked up on lots of fruits and veggies and other stuff to help me eat better!

I found another awesome thing! Oroweat makes 100% whole wheat sandwich thins. And I got 16 of them for only $4!

So...back to my lunch! I used one of my sandwich thins and made just that...a sandwhich! :) I used 1 wedge of laughing cow swiss cheese (only 35 calories) and spread that on the bread, and then topped it with some honey ham, tomato, romaine, and mustard! It is delicious!! Served with half a nectarine and a tall glass of water of course! :)
